In this symbolic interpretation, the process of Christ calling the twelve disciples to assist in His great word represents the God-self — the Christ within — as it begins to train and develop deeper powers with which to carry out the great inner work of soul growth. In this sense, the Christ Idea can be experienced and understood as a composite of twelve fundamental ideas or creative forces.

The foundation of the 12 Powers system was laid by Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity School of Christianity, and has continued to evolve and reveal new meaning over the years. It is a complex and yet accessible metaphysical system with many applications — a system for enlightment, meditation, healing, spiritual treatment and a diagnostic tool for re-balancing the soul.

Adding to the inspirational beauty of these lectures, and as an illustration of the powerful, practical value of these teachings, renowned composer Robert Coxon and outstanding visual artist JG Freedman have contributed music and art inspired by Rev. Anderson.
