The Reverend Marvin Anderson was a beloved master teacher whose profound yet pragmatic approach to metaphysical principles shaped the lives of thousands of Unity students. He graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in English Literature and from Baker University with an M.A. in Philosophy. He was ordained a Unity Minister in 1978, and while in training, served as minister of Unity of Jefferson City and as a chaplain at the Kansas State Prison.

He was the founding minister of Unity of Victoria in 1978, where he served until 1981, during which time the Anderson's daughter, Susanna, was born. He was Chairman of Metaphysical Studies in Unity Village from 1981 to 1986, and the minister of Unity of Montreal from 1986 to 1994. He and his wife, the Rev. Kathryn Anderson, became the ministers of Unity of Vancouver in 1994. Rev. Marvin Anderson made his transition on Dec. 13, 2001.

Rev. Marvin Anderson urges us to think bigger and go deeper - to use this practical, accessible approach to solve our present problems and transform our lives by aligning with our authentic dreams and higher soul purpose. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of philosophy, theology, and psychology, Rev. Anderson conveys his insights with love, wisdom and an irreverent sense of humour.

“Rev. Marvin Anderson was a theologian, a philosopher, a metaphysician, an artist, a storyteller, a stand-up comic; a lover of art, music, literature and nature; he was a magician, a wizard, an alchemist, and he was a devoted family man.”
—Lisa Bunting, Unity student and actor, Eulogy

“Rev. Anderson was always on the leading edge of exploring consciousness, and yet his teachings were profound and accessible. He opened the mystical miracles in a way that can be lived in daily life, and he consistently challenged us to have our spiritual principles made a real difference. As a person, Marvin embodied integrity, presence and faith, and an irreverent sense of humour. He regularly took on sacred cows… and with his humour, he challenged us to look deeper.”
